What are your thoughts on Fascist aesthetics? Architecture, art, etc.? And/or what should they be?
Personally, I find Wilhelminism to be rather appealing as a stylistic direction (not to say it has anything to do with Fascism although many of the German sentiments align with it). You gotta love those pointy hats...

Pickelhaubes aren't "Fascist".
Neither is Wilhelminism...
Fascism wasn't even invented in conjunction with those things. |

I think real fascist architecture could best be described as a mix of Art Deco and Modern-Classical (Classical being Roman and Greek).
The square colosseum in Rome:
Fascist art could be anything depicting fascist lifestyle in my honest opion, though it can't be too abstract, it must feel realistic. |

I'm not an architect and don't pretend to offer any knowledge on the subject, but you have to admire the Nazi's utilization of art, architecture and fashion. It's been 70 yrs and all three have evolved since then, although not necessarily positively, so I'd argue that a contemporary movement would have to re-revolutionize the artistic and fashion worlds. |

Sorry for poorly stating my post. What I meant is, what should Fascist aesthetics be, and that I take interest in Wilhelminism. |

I agree with Pragmatic, one have to admire the neo-classical style the Reich had.
Grosse Halle, one of the monuments Hitler planned to build in his capital Germania:

I second that agreement.
I mean the Nazi idea of gleichschaltung that was incorporated into aesthetics was excellent. Any art/architecture that encompasses the nation is definitely desirable. Hitler was a strong admirer of classical Roman architecture, similar to Mussolini, but he managed to incorporate much German symbolism with it. For example the German eagle was used incessantly by the Nazi's in their architecture, along with their own swastika.
Both didactic and symbolic architecture would be admirable in a fascist nation, preferably modern-classical as Ocelot said. |

I feel that any "Fascist" architecture should be reflective of great national architects of the nation in which it is being incorporated, with historical elements incorporated. |
